I couldn’t help thinking that as Obama walked out of the Capitol to be sworn in, he looked as if he was thinking, “I should’ve pushed for a recount.â€
But when he stepped up to the microphones to deliver his address, he was Barack Obama again.
Is it possible to have a crush on a whole family? ‘Cause I LOVE the Obamas!
I get wanting to hug our nation, and it is OK with me that you want to, but I can’t quite feel it myself.
I remember thinking the day after the election: We’re so busy patting ourselves on the back for electing a black man that we’re in danger of dislocating our national shoulder, but on the same day California passed Prop 8, and three other states passed measures hostile to gay rights and marriage equality.
We elected a black man. High time, and I’m glad for both the symbolic step forward and the Obama victory. But as a nation we still have a lot of progress to make, and a lot of bigotry to undo.

Wonderful!
That picture makes me happy.

Yeah, baby!
Excellent song choice, too. I’m partial to the Richie Havens version, but any version of that song is perfect for this event.
Excellent. That poster makes me smile. I wanted to buy it, until I saw the price tag.
Ah well, I’ll be happy with my button.
It makes me feel happy and smile as well. But it also moves me, it really does.
And I also love the Obamas. I want to hug them collectively. I also want to hug our nation, I hope that’s OK with you all.
Oh, and I love the Beatles version best but, of course, the Beatles aren’t licensed for streaming and this version was just lovely.

Our first president of color.
Did any of us ever imagine that president would be ivory, blue and red? I think not.
Way to harsh my mellow, Alex! 😛
I wonder how the color blind saw that poster, Sarp.
If that’s what the President actually looks like, I think I need to call my cable company.
Sorry to bring you down, Becca.
