Special Monday edition! Since I already did my post last year on my favorite Christmas song ever, it only makes sense that this year I would do it on my second favorite goyish holiday tune. Now, most of the time, I choose a song you may have forgotten or not known and you’d like to be reminded of it. But this time, I chose one most people would like to forget. But not me! I love this song.

It’s important to remember that when it comes to Christmas songs, it’s not usually the aesthetic merits of the song that turn you on, but rather the remembrance of good times past which it evokes. And this song does that for me. When I think about Christmases past I think of being off from school for a week and hanging out with my friend Heather who had a large house that was that stereotypical one in the neighborhood that was always full of kids running around. Heather was my best friend and when I’d sleep over, she’d leave the radio on when we went to sleep because she knew that’s what I liked. And on Christmas Eve it would always be a holiday song marathon.

So this song reminds me of a blissful break from school (which I hated) and good times at my friend’s house (which I loved) and makes me feel free and happy. And it’s really about that, just being happy. I don’t care how cheesy it is!

Happy Christmas to all my Christian friends!

While kind of hysterical that so many people are finding my site by typing “jew ball 2007” in the hopes of finding information on the annual Jewish singles extravaganza taking place on Jesus’ birthday eve called the Matzah Ball, I feel duty-bound to tell you that I’ve never been there or blogged on this topic. However! My friend Roberta met her husband at the one in Boston several years back and they have two lovely children. So good luck to you and don’t forget to dress to impress.
