kb, you remind me that Z100, our powerhouse Top 40 station which I mention in the post, is still Top 40. So I stand corrected!

Merrick, there's no shame in having diverse taste. I kinda wish I weren't such a music snob. I know I am because I once caught myself liking a song and then not liking it when I found out it was by a band I sneered at. I suck.

Soxy, what, not Sexy Soxy? Come on now.

I love DJ names. I think I'd be "The Sox who Rox." or maybe "Roxy Soxy"

We didn't have any cool radio stations in my part of the midwest when I was growing up. Only Top Forty or 60's/70's "Classic Rock" I listened to The Cure and The Ramones albums that the cool, older kids in the neighborhood had. My love for New Wave didn't fully blossomed until about 10 years ago! ~hangs head in shame~

I suppose that's why I have such a diverse taste in music today though!

I used to wake up to WRKR in middle school. I think by the time I got to high school they had already changed format and then disappeared entirely. It was an early exposure to the radio business world for me, I guess.

WKTI, however, never changed. Not even format. They were pop in 1970 and they're still pop today. Reitman and Miller, the morning team, were the "IT" guys in the early eighties; Reitman just retired last year and Miller is still on with a new team. I can't imagine how they stayed relevant for thirty years. Although I rarely listen to that station anymore, it still brings me great comfort knowing they haven't changed.
